So You’re Postcard Printing: A Couple Of Hints And Choices
Postcards have been around for over one hundred years and the use of these non-enveloped letters is still going strong. Although most phones are now equipped with online capabilities and access to email, people still enjoy writing postcards to their loved ones when they are visiting new and exotic places. You see, postcard printing is quite easy and people from any age group can make custom postcards.
Postcards have remained a staple of travel and of invitations to big events, hardly changing at all over the course of time. They still carry the same open format as they did during the time of their creation, with the writing on the back visible to anyone upon examination. Post offices and some gift shops in various exotic places often sell cards with pre-paid stamps in place to make sending one as simple as writing the note.
Cardboard paper has long been used to give postcards greater support and stability. After choosing a particular cardboard or construction paper, reduce its original size down to 3.5″x5″ (this will become the base structure of the postcard). Decorate the front side of the card any way that looks aesthetically appealing. The backside should be divided into two portions so the address can be written on the right side and a small letter on the left.
Photographs with dimensions of 3.5″x5″ can also be used to make postcards. Take a normal photograph and leave the front as is, but separated the back with a solid line. Use the left side to write down a small letter and the right side to put the address of the person you wish to send the letter to.
Some stores, like the local postal center, sell stickers that look just like the back of a regular postcard. These stickers can be applied to any index card or photo to form a ready to go postcard. Some require a stamp, but most sticker backings are printed with pre-paid postage.
If one wanted to make more than one postcard at a time there are many online resources to choose from that offer door hanger services. Although many of these sites require the customer buy in bulk, there are a few that can print out as few as 15 cards. Many of these sites offer their customers two basic options to select from: choose from pre-made templates or start from scratch and design one’s very own unique card.
Certain sites have special options that one could select for his or her card to make them more personalized. The most prevalent of these features is the prepaid postage option, which can offer great savings to the customer. Some more stylish options include shiny text and glossed cards for added appeal.
In the beginning, postcards were printed and sold at the local postal service center, but now anyone willing to spend creative time can produce their own card. Even those with few resources can find they have all they need for simple postcard printing. Postcards have always been an affordable way for people to relay short messages and they will continue to do so even with quick modern conveniences.
