Power Balance For Health And Fitness
Power Balance is a unique brand of wristband which was developed with a rubber band having a holographic sticker applied. The idea behind the unit was that it would provide energy and balance to anyone who wore it by using hologram therapy, which is a part of energy medicine. Specifically this therapy is utilized to enhance athletic performance.
The hologram therapy is growing in recognition as alternative holistic medical techniques have taken hold. People that wear them fervently feel that they’re receiving special powers from the holistic, spiritual therapy. The practice has caused concern with many governments concerning truth in marketing. They have required that tests be run to back up the claims, otherwise fines would be levied against the manufacturer, like powerbalance.
The debate over Power Balance wristbands grew as more and more popular athletes became proponents. In 2010, tests were run throughout the Olympics employing a double blind test to learn if the holograms were truly providing special energy and balance that would increase the performance of the athletes. On two of the bands, the sticker was removed and all bands were taped so nobody might know which ones contained the holograms.
The tests were decisive in that not one of the athletes wearing the hologram devices was able to enhance their overall performance anymore than those which were wearing the bands which had the stickers removed. In Australia, the buyer protection commission required Power Balance to issue a statement admitting they had supplied misleading information regarding the performance enhancement abilities.
While the assessments proved conclusive to skeptics that only wearing holographic items wouldn’t enhance a persons performance, the problem continues to be the red hot issue since the idea behind the products are associated with an individuals spiritual values.
There were tests done regarding player improving performance as well, with results that demonstrated that hard work was the reason for the enhanced levels of overall performance. Since the tests were designed to test if the hologram itself provided the performance, an argument can be made that the tests were skewed against the Power Balance wristband because it was not tested by spiritual believers. As in tests of the power of prayer, the results often show improvements because those involved believe in the activity and its power.
The matter of the Power Balance and hologram treatments are certain to stay debatable, specifically since many high profile players and celebs wear holographic jewelry very openly. The problem over marketing as a product which can enhance durability, flexibility and stability appears to be settled for now.
There’s two basic ideologies, those who think and those that will not.
