Notations of the early night–a poem for your thoughts?
Sitting and pondering Heaven,
jotting down the notations of the early night,
there’s a breeze caressing my face
weathering away the rough edges of my spectacles.
Away from my garden’s gate, the songs of night birds sound,
settling down amongst the grass,
smoking marijuana in the calm stirrings of the world,
the soft whir of the occasional automobile
rolling brightly by, and I, gleeful and silly,
sit up to observe the whorls in the grain of the fence
aged since 1972–home to vines and aspiring
sunflowers.
I like how you are able to capture mood, not just emotion.
