Many people decide that a back tattoo is the way for them due to the larger amount of muscle mass. The more muscle mass in the location can often translate into less pain and sensitivity.
A good piece of advice before having the tattoo machine start buzzing away is to go into the tattoo parlors and talk to the artists. A good artist always takes the time to answer any questions the prospective client might have. While at the tattoo parlors take a good look around. Are the premises clean and sanitary? Are the work areas posted with the artists’ licenses? Are the needles used with the tattoo machine always new and disposed of properly in biohazard containers?
Tattoo parlors are like any other business. They must keep customers happy in order to keep their business. One bad tattoo may drive off five potential customers. The same applies if the counter personnel are rude or will not address concerns or questions. It is your job to select the right business and their job to ensure your happiness and safety. Finally, schedule the appointment so that there is plenty of time without either party feeling rushed. A tattoo done in haste might lead to a costly mistake later both in dollars and pain when it gets removed by laser and tattoo removal is a lengthy process.
